Popdle FAQ

What is Popdle?

Popdle is a free daily geography game. Each day you are shown a country and must guess its population in six tries. Get within 5% of the real figure to win.

How often does the puzzle change?

A new country is selected every day. Everyone in the world plays the same country on the same day, so you can compare results fairly with friends.

How do I enter my guess?

Enter your guess in millions — for example, 0.8 means 800,000 people. After each guess you get a higher/lower hint and a colour-coded accuracy band showing how close you are.

What counts as a win?

Guessing within 5% of the country's actual population counts as a win. You have six guesses to get there.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts or logins. Your results and streaks are stored privately in your own browser, and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Where does the population data come from?

Country names come from Wikidata (public domain) and population figures from the World Bank Open Data API (CC BY 4.0), so the numbers stay current.

Is there a practice mode?

Yes. After finishing the daily puzzle, a Practice button lets you play unlimited rounds with random countries. Practice results are not tracked or shared.

Is Popdle free?

Yes, completely free. The site shows advertising to cover hosting costs, but the game has no paywalls.
